When it comes to your carpet, water damage is one of the most catastrophic things that can happen. Whether its cause is as simple as leaking plumbing pipes or as devastating as a flood, carpet water damage is immensely difficult to treat. Of course, some would argue that simply replacing the carpet is the best way to go, but that depends on your financial situation. Sometimes, spending thousands of dollars on new carpet is either more than your budget allows or just impracticable. If unsanitary water is left without treatment for too long, it can become “Black” water, which is water that has raw sewage in it. Black water can also come from ground water or from seawater. However, just finding out if the water that caused the carpet water damage is sanitary water or not is just the first step.

When carpet water damage occurs, the latex backing of the carpet is weakened and can cause the backing to fall apart. That leaves the homeowner with a carpet that is literally falling to pieces underneath their feet. If the carpet is left wet long enough, bacteria and mold or fungi can begin to form. That is not something most homeowners want, especially if children are present. While most carpet warranties will be voided, despite the type or condition of the flood, there is a solution that won't require taking out a loan from the bank or selling valuables. When there is any amount of carpet water damage, it is best to get assistance immediately for qualified specialist to minimize the damage to both your carpet and your wallet.
